Moot competitions, Legal aid, and Internship Important for Students

Moot competitions, Legal aid, and Internship Important for Students

Law is one of the most famous and reputable careers. It is a five-year course which not only involve

theoretically but also practically. A lawyer doesn't only learn from his books and teachers but through

internship and competition are other avenues for knowledge.

As a law student, in my view, I believe it is important for the aspiring student to have an all-rounder

experience, to begin with, there are various completions such as debate, MUN, article writing, research,

client counseling, etc. But the most important completion which gives an idea of litigation is moot

competition.

Moot completion is a competition, wherein the students participate in groups of three. The student plays

the role of advocate or researcher. The participants are given a case 3 months before the competition,

they prepare the case's memorandum, which states all the facts and arguments of the case.

Mooting helps the students, to connect and network around the world, as a lawyer, it is very important to

have good networking. Researching is very important for any lawyer as through this lawyers dwell deep

into the topic, this topic helps students to inculcate a habit of research which is important for every field

of law. Participating in groups helps the student to work in a group and also takes out one's leadership

quality. Confidence is an integral part in a law career therefore this activity strengthens confidence.

Mooting is one of the aspects of practical knowledge, the other aspect is the internship. The internship is

working in the organization, under the lawyer or judge and it can also be in an NGO. There are a lot of

options for the internship. Internships provide a model for the student and also give them a gist of the

work.

Internship helps students to apply the bookish knowledge in real practical life. This is very important for

any law student as this helps them to understand the subject even better. this process also helps in

networking. Experience is a vital part, one very well knows that experiencing something and reading it is

way different. The past few internships have made me realize that I have developed new skills which are

quite important for my future. as an aspiring lawyer, it is important for our career to build our CV,

working in an organization help student to enhance their CV.

Article 39A of the constitution provides for equal justice and free legal aid. This aid is given to minors,

women economically weaker sections, etc. There is even an act for such services, known as the legal

services authorities act.

Law students are allowed to help the legal aid provider, though as students we might not be given chance

to talk to the people we can observe the counseling session, which gives us an idea about the problems

that still prevail and it also helps students to enhance their skills.

To sum up, I would like to emphasize that law might be simpler to read through books but one can only

complete their study by participating in the above-mentioned activities.
